ESS101: Effective Selection and Staffing (10 wks fr. Jan 20 to Mar 24)

This course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to support their organization's ability to attract and retain human capital and thereby help gain or sustain the organization's competitive advantage through people.

Students will learn to:

• audit and evaluate their organization's staffing or recruiting function;
  
• develop effective recruitment strategies and techniques;
  
• select appropriate screening and selection techniques; and,
• align promotion and succession planning with the organization's overall strategic business goals.

At the end of this course, students will be in a better position to find the right talent for the right job by design and not by chance.

Jun is the Managing Director of HR Central K.K. and Chief Community Officer, The Japan HR Society (JHRS). He has more than 18 years of professional experience covering the entire HR value chain from recruit, retain, and release. He also has solid experience as a trainer, HR consultant, and executive search consultant as well as other HR areas like performance management, compensation & benefits design, organizational design and development, change management, coaching, and career counseling.

He holds a MBA in International HR Management from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and Japan-America Institute of Management Science (JAIMS) and an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Philippines. He also received his Certificate in HR Studies from Cornell University's School of Industrial Labor and Relations and is an accredited consultant of Harrison Assessments International---a leading provider of tools to assist in the selection, recruitment, and development of employees.
